
Power UserĬardholders who have borrowed more than 2,500 items from BPL are invited to join our Power User program. There is an annual, non-refundable $50 fee for out-of-state cardholders. Non-NYS residents may apply for a membership to BPL's extensive selection of digital books and online databases. Teachers, administrators, librarians, and childcare providers currently employed in a public and private school, licensed childcare facility, afterschool, or special education program as well as homeschooling parents and guardians are eligible to apply for an Educator Card. Welcome Cards expire after one year, with option for renewal, and may be upgraded at any time to a full-access card by visiting a BPL branch with ID.

Specialty Card Types Welcome CardĬoming August 2022! Online applicants for a BPL library card can immediately be granted a Welcome Card, no ID required, with instant access to our digital collection, databases, computers and printing, plus limited physical borrowing (max 3 holds, max 3 checkouts).

This service is free to Brooklyn Public Library patrons however, fines and fees assessed by the lending library do apply. Interlibrary Loan is a service that allows valid Brooklyn Public Library cardholders to request to borrow books not owned by BPL from other libraries in the United States. Failure to receive notices does not excuse replacement charges. Overdue notices are sent by email, text, or phone.


A replacement charge for the cost of lost items will be added to your account in order to replace them in our collection. Items not returned more than 28 days after their due date are considered lost.
